What is blank-TV.de?
blank-TV.de is a free broadcasting service for several multiplayer games. The idea arose as two [[:blank:]] members named Runner and Snoopy)thought about what is missing on the current offerings in this sector.

In the course of the last few years blank-TV.de established itself as the leading game broadcaster in german-speaking countries.

We actually support the following Steam-based games:

Half-Life 1 including mods like:
- Counter-Strike 1.6,
- Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and
- Day of Defeat

Half-Life 2 including mods like:
- Counter-Strike: Source,
- Day of Defeat: Source and
- Team Fortress 2

Booking
To use our free broadcasting service, you must first be registered and login on our website.

Also don´t forget to answer the activation eMail after you have registered a new account.

After being logged in you may now book your match at our mainpage:
» Booking -> Booking

You will receive further informations by eMail.

How can I connect to a HLTV server?
First of all you need a valid copy of the game you want to view. So if you want to spectate a Counter-Strike 1.6 match, you will need the same version running on your PC.
Then you will need the HLTV-IP of a match you want to spectate. You can find the IP on the matchdetail page of each match, which can be found in our program.
Then start the game e.g. Counter-Strike, bring down the console ('^' key, left from '1') and type in:
connect HLTV-IP:Port
e.g.
connect bcast01.blank-tv.de:50100

Note that you can not connect to the HLTV before the start time which you can see on the matchdetail page.

If you don't have a console after launching the game do the following to activate it:
- right click on the game in the Steam - PLAY GAME menu and choose PROPERTIES
- click at "LAUNCH OPTIONS" and add "-console"
- now launch the game using the icon in PLAY GAME
You should see the console now.

Which games can you broadcast?
Currently we stream the following games:

Half-Life 1 based including mods like:
- Counter-Strike 1.6,
- Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and
- Day of Defeat

Half-Life 2 based including mods like:
- Counter-Strike: Source,
- Day of Defeat: Source and
- Team Fortress 2

What does a coverage cost?
Nothing, it´s totally free!
As a reward we only want you to mention our website when posting the IP of the HLTV or SourceTV anywhere. For excample: bcast01.blank-TV.de:50100 (powerd by www.blank-TV.de).

If you want to support us even more, you can also place a link with our banner (here) or a button (here) on your website.

When do I get response to my booking?
Normally you will receive a response within 10 minutes after your booking in form of an automated eMail, which will contain the HLTV- or Source-TV IP. If you do not receive this mail, you should first check out our program. If you can find your match listed there, everything is ok. Maybe the e-mail wasn't sent or got stuck in your spam filter.
When you can't find your match there, please contact one of our admins via IRC - #blank (Quakenet Servers).

Why has my booking been declined?
First of all, this happens very seldom. When it happens you can find the reason in the respone eMail. If you think there´s something wrong please contact an admin via IRC - #blank (Quakenet servers)

Why does the HLTV not connect to the server?
If the HLTV or SourceTV does not connect to the gameserver by the time given in the booking it may be due to one of the following reasons:

Gameserver proxyslots fulll (HLTV)
The server variable sv_proxies controls the number of HLTV server that are allowed to connect - the value of this variable must be 1 at least. You can change this via rcon by using the command "rcon sv_proxies 1" on your gameserver.

Bad gameserver password
The password given in the booking does not match with the password actually set on the gameserver - the proxy can´t connect. You can change the server password by using "rcon sv_password xxx". The proxy server will connect automatically as soon as the correct password is set.

Things to make sure
Please don´t ask our admins on IRC add a booking for you game - bookings are only beeing processed on our Website. Please ask your opponent before ordering a proxy for your match if he agrees to add spectators to the game, as we don´t want our spectators to get angry about matches beeing cancelled minutes before they start due to a disagreement about a stream.

When does the blank-TV start?
The blank-TV proxy for HLTV or SourceTV starts exactly at the time specified in the booking form. The blank-TV is not visible in any gameserver browsers before this time.

How long is the delay?
You can choose the delay of the proxy during booking. We recommend a delay of 90 seconds unless your league requires a longer delay.

Who can i ask when i have a Question?
If you have any questions or problems you may use one of the three following options to get in contact with us:

- use this contact form
- contact a blank-TV admin via IRC in #blank (Quakenet server). Admins are usually called blank-TV|...
- fill out the support form for the match you have problems with. You can find this form in
» Control center -> HLTV-Control center

How can i change server data afterwards?
If the server data like IP-address of the gameserver or the password has changed, you can update them by youself until 15 minutes before the match starts.
To do this go to » Control center -> HLTV Control center -> Edit match. Select the game you want to change in the list and enter the new data.
If the match is already running you need to ask an admin to change it for you. The best way to do this is contacting us via IRC - #blank (Quakenet server).

Which requirements must the gameserver fulfill?
In order to broadcast your game, the server you are playing on must comply with the following requirements:

sv_proxies 1 (HLTV)
The gameserver must be configured to allow external HLTV proxies to connect. The server variable that handles this is sv_proxies. This variable defines how many HLTVs are allowed to connect and must be 1 at least. You can use "rcon sv_proxies 1" to change this variable on your gameserver.

Number of slots:
The blank-TV proxy uses 1 regular playerslot, which means that you need at least a 11 slot server to have a broadcast for a 5on5 match.

Where can i download the HLTV demo?
First of all you must enable demo recording when booking the match. If you have done this, you can download the demo on the matchdetail page of your match. This page can be found in our program. Note that the demo will only be visible if the HLTV has been closed. This happens automatically at the time shown on the matchdetail page or if you stop the HLTV using the Matchinterface
Note: For SourceTV-based games it is not possible to record demos by us. This is a limitation of SourceTV and no workaround for us exists so far.

What is the maximum number of specators for my match?
Actually the default number of spectators for a blank-TV proxy is 128. Should this not suffice the proxy automatically extends this to 250 spectator slots. In the rare case that even this does not suffice, our system adds another 250 slot proxy automatically. No further gameserver slot is required for this.
By this mean we ensure that there are always enough spectator slots available for your match.

255/255 slots in steam serverbrowser - HLTV full?
No. This is a well known bug in the Steam serverbrowser. On very large games with more than 255 slots, it will only show you 255 which looks like the server is full while there are plenty of free slots left.
You may use ingame console or serverbrowsers like HLSW in this case. The ingame command is:
connect HLTV-IP:Port
e.g.
connect eins.blank-TV.de:27100
A complete description of how to connect via ingame console can be found here.

In which timezone are the given times?
As far as not specified otherwise, all times are given in CET timezone, that is GMT + 1h. With daylight saving time this is GMT + 2h. You can always see the actual time at the bottom of every page.

All times are GMT +2. The time now is 05:20.
